Oilcloth y Chucherias Mexicanas!!!
About the the shop & owner:
I started my business right after college in 2001 at local farmers markets and craft shows. Mostly during the holidays as I was helping run my parents family farm during the summers and fall.
A few years later I had this dream of opening up my own tiendita and incorporating other handmade items by local Latinas and some tradional Artesania Mexicana from artesanos from my home state of Michoacan Mexico. With the help & support of my Familia in 2011 I opened the doors to my very own tiendita on the North side of beautiful Healdsburg, CA. It started off in a small little room and now its 2 small little rooms but with a big heart!!!
You may ask why Oilcloth? Or Chucherias?
Well I started off my booth primarily with handmade Oilcloth bolsas, tablecloths and accessories. (oilcloth is a canvas/vinyl material traditionally used for tablecloths in Mexico) .
And Chucherias well my mom picked that name because I asked her "Mama como le pongo a mi changaro?" She said "pues tienes un monton de cositas, de Chucherias". So, I had to keep it because it came from the most important mujer in my life mi MAMA. Y ta-da Almas Oilcloth Y Chucherias!
If you are ever in the Sonoma County wine country I hope you have time to stop in and say HOLA!
